NAV 2009 SP1 has been released!

Yeah the long awaited NAV 2009 SP1 has been released!

As some of might already know NAV 2009 SP1 has been released in 16 Localized versions. (Australia, Austria, Canada (English and French), Denmark, France, Germany, India (English), Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and W1 (English))

So what’s new?

Some think it is mainly changes to RoleTailored client – but that’s not all :-) I will not go through everything – but only mention some nice new features.

Two new functions have been added – IMPORTOBJECTS and EXPORTOBJECTS. With these functions it is now possible to import and export objects as text files directly from C/AL in a Classic Client (RTC does not support the functions). Nice feature!

Two new functions regarding synchronizing logins have been added – SYNCHRONIZEALLLOGINS and SYNCHRONIZESINGLELOGIN. With these functions it is now possible to synchronize logins from C/AL.

Also a nice new function is SID – with SID you can now retrieve the security identifier (SID) of a Windows user account.

One nice feature is also the new possibility for testing. Test codeunits, Test runner codeunits, UI handlers and ASSERTERROR has been added and if used right will help you in the testing of new changes. Nice feature!

And some quick headlines:

  • RoleTailored client control add-ins
  • Page Designer (new wizard!)
  • Report Designer (link report to report, paging, about etc.)
  • Applications testing features
  • Form transformation tool (more option for assigning IDs to page controls)
  • Improvement to the Web Services
  • Error list Window
